Texas expected to target GT transfer WR Eric Singleton
The madness in the NCAA Transfer Portal on the first day of the winter window on Dec. 9 saw five Texas football players likely to depart the program in the upcoming 2025 offseason. Three of Texas's players announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.
GA Tech transfer wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. reportedly expected to receive Texas football interest in the portal
Two other Longhorns players announced their plans to enter the transfer portal before the winter window opened on Monday morning, including sophomore wide receiver Johntay Cook II.
Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian is expected to pursue at least one immediate impact wide receiver in the portal this winter transfer cycle to help replace what's departing from the receiving corps to the NFL Draft next spring for 2025.
One elite speedster at wide receiver who entered the transfer portal from another P4 program on Dec. 9 that Texas could consider is the former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets sophomore standout wideout Eric Singleton Jr. Texas didn't have the same look it appears to gauge Singleton entering the portal today as some other SEC programs.
But I don't expect that to stop the Longhorns from at least kicking the tires on the idea of pursuing Singleton in the portal during the winter transfer window.
On Dec. 9, it was announced (per Max Olson) that Singleton has entered the transfer portal and will take visits to multiple SEC schools this month, including Ole Miss, Georgia, and Auburn.
OTF's Bobby Burton reported on Dec. 9 on the YouTube show "Talkin' Ball Live" that he expects Texas to look at Singleton in the transfer portal during the winter window.
Singleton has the type of speed and proven playmaking ability that Texas will be looking to add to bolster the receiving corps from the portal for the 2025 season.
In the past two seasons at Georgia Tech, Singleton registered nearly 1,500 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns. This season, Singleton racked up a career-high of over 750 receiving yards on 56 catches, with four total touchdowns (three receiving and one rushing).
