Texas football was successfully able to flip 3-star tight end Charlie Jilek from Minnesota last night, and Longhorns fans have been taking to social media recently to express their excitement.

The 6'5", 230-pound tight end was offered by Texas TE coach Jeff Banks yesterday, and he committed on the spot. This obviously shows how much he loved the idea of suiting up for the Longhorns and playing in DKR Memorial Stadium in 2026.

Jilek is technically ranked as the No.98 ATH in the 2026 recruiting class because he also excelled as a linebacker for Portage Central HS in Portage, MI. Though he could end up playing on defense for Steve Sarkisian and Co., he's being recruited by Texas to play offense.

He also had offers from the likes of UCF, San Diego State, Ohio University, and a few other Mid-American Conference schools.

As mentioned early, Longhorn Nation (as well as 5-star QB commit Dia Bell) is pretty pumped to see that the team was able to flip the towering tight end from Minnesota:

Jilek has been known for his blocking ability at the high school level, consistently driving and pancaking defenders 10 yards downfield. Though the Longhorns do currently have a lot of youth at the tight end position, Jilek could definitely see the field as a blocker in 12P and 13P formations early on in his career.

He has the prototypical build and frame for a tight end, with the potential to add 15-20 pounds without losing his athleticism or movement skills. Despite "only" being a 3-star player, Jilek could end up being a sneaky good acquisition in the 2026 class for Texas' future.
