The Texas Longhorns didn't have a perfect performance on Saturday afternoon when they visited the Vanderbilt Commodores. However, the team still walked away with yet another ranked win for the season.
Despite the Horns earning their third ranked win of the year, the AP Top 25 bumped Texas down a spot, making them the No. 6 team in the country. Taking Texas' place? The Miami Hurricanes – who have yet to face a ranked opponent and most likely won't until the ACC Championship game.
To put it simply, Texas fans aren't happy that their team dropped a spot in the rankings.
Of course, fans are always going to have their biases towards their team and want them to be ranked as high as possible. However, Longhorn fans have a legitimate argument this time around.
Here's a quick breakdown of both teams' seasons so you can decide for yourself if an unbeaten Hurricanes team deserves to be a spot ahead of a one-loss Longhorns squad.
Texas win-loss record through Week 9:
Texas Longhorns – 7-1 overall, 3-1 SEC
- 52-0 W vs. Colorado State
- 31-12 W at No. 10 Michigan
- 56-7 W vs. UTSA
- 51-3 W vs. Louisiana-Monroe
- 35-13 W vs. Mississippi State
- 34-3 W vs. No. 18 Oklahoma
- 30-15 L vs. No. 5 Georgia
- 27-24 W at No. 25 Vanderbilt
Miami win-loss record through Week 9:
Miami Hurricanes – 8-0 overall, 4-0 ACC
- 41-17 W at Florida
- 56-9 W vs. Florida A&M
- 62-0 W vs. Ball State
- 50-15 W at USF
- 38-34 W vs. Virginia Tech
- 39-38 W at California
- 52-45 W at Louisville
- 36-14 W vs. FSU
At the end of the day, Miami has yet to face a formidable opponent.
Texas took down Michigan, who has since dropped out of the 25, and blew past Oklahoma when the Sooners were still in the top 20. Vanderbilt proved itself against Alabama and again versus Kentucky, the Commodores are not to be laughed at.
Texas should have stayed at No. 5 and Miami should have stayed at No. 6, it's that simple.
