Yet another change to the Texas coaching staff has taken place.

Matt Moran spent nearly a decade with the Stanford Cardinal as its special team's graduate assistant after working with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, where he was a defensive quality control assistant with the defensive backs

Then, Moran spent time with the James Madison Dukes as the Special Teams Assistant Coach. After his one season with JMU (2024-25), people weren't sure where Moran would end up.

Now, the Texas Longhorns have brought Moran onto their staff as the newest Special Teams Analyst for the program.

When he shared the news, Moran said, "So excited to announce I have accepted a position as Special Teams analyst for the University of Texas! Excited for the opportunity to come to Austin & be a part of the tradition!"

Moran attended Bowdoin (ME) where he played four years for the school's football team, the Polar Bears. Over those four seasons, he was the 2009 NESCAC Academic All-Conference selection after playing wide receiver, free safety, punter, and kick returner as well as rotating in at quarterback.

Moran also spent time on Bowdoin's staff as well as the Albright College (PA) staff from 2013-14 and San Diego's staff in 2011. As of now, the details of Moran's contract with the Longhorns were yet to be made public and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian had yet to respond to his new assistant's post on social media.

Sarkisian, Moran, and the rest of the Longhorn staff will kick off its 2025 season with a road trip game in Columbus, where they will face the Ohio State Buckeyes in a non-conference matchup. Texas will start its 2025 SEC season against the Florida Gators on Saturday, Oct. 4.
