According to Matt Zenitz, Texas football's Director of Scouting, Errin Joe, is officially leaving the school and joining North Texas as it's General Manager for the 2026 season and beyond. He joins new Mean Green head coach and former Longhorns analyst, Neal Brown as the newest member of North Texas' staff.
Joe initially came to Texas in 2025 following a 2.5-year stint at Georgia Tech, acting as their General Manager following his career as a player for the Yellow Jackets from 2011-2016.
He played a big role in helping put together the Longhorns' 2026 recruiting class, one that included 5-star QB Dia Bell, ATH Jermaine Bishop, and 11 other blue-chip recruits.
North Texas is expected to hire Texas director of scouting Errin Joe as its general manager, sources tell @CBSSports.

Errin Joe's ability to successfully recruit players in the state of Texas is most likely one of the main reasons why Neal Brown targeted him. North Texas is going to have to focus their recruiting efforts on in-state players for the most part, seeing as they're a much smaller school than Texas.
The Mean Green are also going to have to attack the transfer portal when it opens in order to replace their star QB Drew Mestemaker, who's undoubtedly going to hit the portal when it opens. He'll be one of the most attractive quarterbacks available in this year's cycle as he was incredibly productive in 2025. North Texas was one win away from being in this season's College Football Playoffs, almost solely because of Mestemaker. Now with Joe in the fold, they could have a slightly better chance at finding someone to successfully replace him.
Longhorn Nation wishes Errin Joe nothing but the best in his future endeavors in Denton.
