The Texas Longhorns pulled a fast one ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Sam Houston State Bearkats when reports came out that four-star athlete Jalen Lott was visiting Austin for a surprise visit.
The reason it was so surprising? Lott, who is the No. 4 wide receiver in the class of 2026, committed to the Oregon Ducks over two months earlier.
Lott is a Texas native and already held an offer from the Horns when he committed to the Ducks in July. In fact, the possible two-way athlete had already taken five visits to Texas when he decided to make the last-minute trip to see his home-state team in action.

Meanwhile, the young wideout who could also play cornerback at the collegiate level, took just two trips to Eugene to visit the Ducks.
Nowadays, a commitment doesn't mean as much as it used to. Without National Letters of Intent, players can change their minds at the drop of a hat. The Horns were clearly hoping that Lott would do just that as they hosted him for yet another visit.
When he committed to Oregon, he had narrowed his choices down to the Ducks, the Longhorns, the LSU Tigers, and the USC Trojans. To put it lightly, Texas was never out of the picture for the four-star prospects.
Since then, he has reposted and continuously hyped up the Ducks' class of 2026 recruits, which currently ranks fourth in the country, just one spot ahead of the Longhorns.
Lott was one of 11 four-star recruits to commit to Oregon when he made his sixth trip to Austin. If he decided to flip his commitment to Texas, he would be the 12th four-star prospect to do so.
The Longhorns and the Bearkats were scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 20, and the game was aired on ESPN+ and the SEC Network+.
