Through three weeks of the 2025 college football season, it's no secret that Texas' offense has been struggling pretty bad for a couple of different reasons. It's easy to say "next week will be better" after another horrible performance against UTEP, but these numbers consistently say otherwise.

Texas' offensive rankings

- Last in the SEC in 3rd down conversions
- Last in the SEC in Red Zone conversions
- 12th in the SEC in 4th down conversions
- 14th in the SEC in scoring and total offense
- 13th in the SEC in passing yards per game
- 9th in the SEC in rushing yards per game

Arch Manning SEC quarterback rankings

- 13th in the SEC in overall passing rank
- 12th in the SEC in long passing plays
- Last in the SEC in completion percentage
- 13th in the SEC in quarterback rating
- 14th in the SEC in interceptions thrown

These are some absolutely mind-boggling numbers for a team like Texas, with a quarterback who was supposed to be the "next big thing" in 2025 and beyond. To say that Steve Sarkisian and Co. are off to a slow start this year is an understatement, and something that needs to be remedied ASAP if the Longhorns are going to have any chance at being competitive in conference play.

Yes, it's easy to say that most of the problem has been Arch Manning's complete inability to find a rhythm in the passing game, but Sarkisian's play calling has been below-average throughout the first quarter of the season. Aside from play selection itself, there's been instances where Texas should've run the ball instead of passing it and vice versa in a couple situations where the decision should've been pretty obvious.

Here's to hoping that both Manning and Sarkisian get their acts together over the next few weeks because if they don't, it's curtains for the 2025 season.
