5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry was the talk of the town on day one, possessing the build and athleticism of a seasoned veteran.

Justus Terry is currently listed on the Texas football roster at 6'5", 268 pounds. Though the height might be legitimate, he definitely looks bigger than that weight number. The amount of muscle that he already has on his frame, particularly on his upper body makes him appear to be closer to 280 pounds.

He worked at both JACK and defensive tackle on the first day of camp, though the coaching staff had reiterated that he was going to focus on JACK during their recent round of press conferences. Longhorns DE coach LaAllan Clark said that Terry would most likely be used to create mismatches in the trenches, possibly playing defensive end on early downs, and then bumping inside to play 3-technique on passing downs.

Terry undoubtedly has the frame and athleticism to easily add 20-30 pounds of muscle without being slowed down or hindering his ability to play multiple, important roles for the Longhorn defense in the future. He could end up being a slightly taller version of former Ole Miss star defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche.

Seeing how he performed on the first day of camp in combination with his overall size makes it easy to see why so many FBS teams were after his commitment since 2023. He has extremely "heavy" hands, with a powerful punch that allows him to stun opposing offensive linemen at the point of attack.

Despite defensive end being an incredibly stacked position group for the Longhorns this season, Terry could end up seeing quite a bit of playing time as a true freshman depending on how he performs in the full-padded portion of camp.

As mentioned earlier, it wouldn't be surprising to see Terry used as a 3rd down sub-package player on the interior defensive line to start. His athleticism and agility could make him an asset against slower offensive guards and centers on obvious passing downs.
