A month and a half ago, five-star defensive lineman James Johnson committed to the Texas Longhorns. Since then, two of his home-state teams have continued to push for him to flip his commitment.
Johnson grew up in Miami, home to the Hurricanes and just a few hours from Gainesville, where the Florida Gators play ball. Recently, the Miami Hurricanes emerged as frontrunners for the flip.
Now, keep in mind that Johnson had already changed his decision once when he committed to Texas, flipping his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Horns. After the Longhorns landed him, rumors of yet another flip never quite died down.
On3's Steve Wiltfong, a recruit expert and analyst, recently shared that "Miami is the biggest threat" to Texas holding onto the five-star lineman.
"Miami's coming hard. He said Miami's heavy on his mind. He's giving the Gators and the Hurricanes an opportunity," Wiltfong said.

On3, which recently combined forces with fellow recruiting site Rivals, gives the Canes just a 1.1 percent chance to flip Johnson, despite what Wiltfong shared. Meanwhile, the site gives Florida a 2.3 percent chance and the Bulldogs a 29.8 percent chance.
Now, the reason Georgia still has such a high percentage is almost entirely due to the fact that he originally committed to play for UGA. However, the lack of cohesion regarding what On3 recruiting experts are sharing and what the percentages indicate should give the Longhorns hope.
However, earlier this month, 247Sports reported that Johnson was looking to book a couple of game-day visits with the Longhorns, Gators, and Hurricanes, giving each program yet another chance to cement itself as his future team.
So far, Johnson has taken a resounding eight visits to Florida, four to Miami, three to Florida State, and just two to Texas and Georgia. He took six official visits, including ones with the Horns, the Gators, the Canes, and the Dawgs.
As of now, Johnson is still committed to Texas, but Sarkisian and staff are having to put forth their full-fledged efforts to keep that true.
