The Texas Longhorns are on a two-game losing streak and are about to take on the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels.
Despite the Horns dropping to No. 19 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll and despite the fact that they will be without star defensive edge rusher Colin Simmons and possibly without running back Hollywood Smothers, not all hope is lost for Texas this weekend.
In fact, the oddsmakers in Vegas actually have a bit of faith in the Longhorns still, even though the last two weeks have not gone in their favor.
Final spread, moneyline, total for No. 9 Texas vs. No. 7 Ole Miss
- Spread: -3.5 Texas, +3.5 Ole Miss
- Moneyline: -162 Texas, +134 Ole Miss
- Over/Under: +/-53.5 points
The margin is narrow, with the oddsmakers setting the spread at just 3.5 points in Texas's favor. However, the point total is massive, set at 53.5 combined points between the Horns and Rebels. That would have the final score somewhere in the ballpark of 34-31, with the Horns eking out their fifth win of the season to get things back on track.
When it comes to betting on the game, someone would have to bet $162 on the Horns pulling off the win to walk away with a $100 profit. On the other hand, someone could bet $100 on Ole Miss securing the upset and walk away with a $134 profit if the Rebels were able to pull it off.

Game prediction for No. 19 Texas Longhorns vs. No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels
With the injuries that both teams are heading into the game with on the defensive side of the ball, I would lean into the high projected point total.
The Ole Miss defensive secondary has struggled this season, possibly opening up an air-raid offense for the Horns and quarterback Arch Manning. On the other hand, with Simmons sidelined, Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy have the chance for massive games of their own.
Ultimately, I have lost a lot of faith in this Texas squad, but I think that it is undeniably a must-win game for the Longhorns. So, I expect head coach Steve Sarkisian to finally get things back on track against Ole Miss this weekend.
