Over the entirety of the offseason, the noise surrounding the Texas Longhorns football program has reached a deafening roar.
One of the big parts of that excitement was because head coach Steve Sarkisian hired Will Muschamp as his new defensive coordinator, returning the beloved DC to the program that he was such a crucial part of during the Mack Brown era.
Since then, Muschamp has redefined what the Texas defense is about, and there isn't a single person on the 40 Acres who can stop talking about it.
"When I got that call from Will Muschamp, I was pretty certain this is where I wanted to be… He’s an old-school style coach; he gets after you a little bit, but he produces the best players," transfer linebacker Justus Cryer said about his new defensive coordinator.
Sarkisian has repeatedly praised Muschamp's intensity alongside his players, and Texas fans should be more excited than ever to see the Horns' defense in action.
Texas soccer and volleyball finally get things rolling
Both the Texas volleyball and soccer teams have both gotten their seasons underway, and the two are having drastically different starts to the year.
Soccer is working to bounce back from the worst season in program history, going 4-12-1 in 2025, and is in its first season under head coach Margueritte Bates. Meanwhile, the volleyball team has won two of the last four National Championships and is in its 26th year under head coach Jerritt Elliott.
To the shock and disappointment of everyone who attended or tuned in to the Horns' first volleyball game of the season, No. 2 Texas lost to the No. 13 Arizona State Sun Devils in a shocking upset. However, the Longhorns turned things around in Game 2, defeating Marquette to right the ship (slightly).
On the other side of campus (literally), the soccer team has had a dream start to its season. Bates has led the Horns to a 3-0-1 start, already just one game short of matching last season's win total. Simply put, she has already turned things around at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.

The Texas men's basketball team just booked another blue-chip prospect for an official visit, bringing yet another top talent to the 40 Acres.
Head coach Sean Miller scheduled an OV with five-star power forward Ahmed Nur, the No. 24 overall prospect in the class of 2027.

- Justin Wise, four-star shooting guard, Sept. 5 (Georgia commit)
- Beckham Black, five-star point guard, Sept. 9
- NaVorro Bowman Jr., five-star point guard, Sept. 19
- Darius Wabbington, five-star center, Nov. 7
With five blue-chip prospects coming to campus throughout the fall, Miller and the Longhorns will be extremely busy before their actual season even tips off.

While the current state of the Texas running back room is one of the best in the country, it is becoming increasingly obvious that it will be one of the greatest out there for years to come.
