Texas loses DT Jaray Bledsoe to the transfer portal

A second Texas player has reportedly had plans announced to enter the transfer portal during the winter window next week.

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, redshirt sophomore Texas football defensive tackle Jaray Bledsoe plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Bledsoe registered seven combined tackles, one tackle for loss, four defensive stops, seven quarterback pressures, and one fumble recovery over 12 games played in his three years at Texas.

This season, Bledsoe played 16 defensive snaps over three games for the Longhorns. All three games Bledsoe played for the Longhorns this fall on the defensive side of the ball were in non-conference play, against Colorado State, UTSA, and UL-Monroe.

Bledsoe registered two combined tackles and two defensive stops over three games played in the 2024 season. Both tackles and defensive stops for Bledsoe this fall came in garbage time in the second half in the Week 3 win at home over UTSA.

He showed flashes of becoming a standout defensive tackle for the Longhorns' defensive front as a redshirt freshman during the 2023 campaign. Bledsoe racked up a career-high four combined tackles, two defensive stops, five quarterback pressures, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery.

The 6-foot-4 and 290-pound defensive tackle from Marlin, TX, signed with the Longhorns in the 2022 recruiting class. Bledsoe was a four-star recruit from Marlin (TX) High School who committed to Bo Davis and the Longhorns over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Oklahoma Sooners, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Bledsoe ranked as the No. 174 prospect nationally in the 2022 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 24 defensive lineman, and No. 28 from Texas.
