It was an incredibly exciting Saturday for Longhorn Nation as five members of the team were drafted to the NFL, and three of them somehow managed to get selected by the same organization on day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft.

DE Trey Moore, S Michael Taaffe, and OG D.J. Campbell were all handpicked by new Dolphins HC Jeff Hafley in the 4th, 5th, and 6th rounds today, respectively.

Moore was an interesting selection and was drafted a lot higher than projected by Miami, and it's most likely due to the simple fact that he's one of the most versatile and position-flexible defenders in the entire class. The 6'2", 243-pound edge defender played both SAM and 4-3 DE for Texas over the past two seasons, and the Dolphins were looking to add a rotational designated pass rusher-type player to work alongside Josh Uche, Chop Robinson, and David Ojabo in 2026.

Taaffe, on the other hand, despite being selected after Moore, could have a legitimate chance to see a decent amount of playing time regularly as a rookie. Miami was hurting pretty badly at safety heading into the draft, with their projected starters being Dante Trader Jr. and Lonnie Johnson Jr.

Needless to say, Taaffe should at the very least be able to earn a spot in the two-deep as a rookie, with the potential for consistent snaps on obvious passing downs.

D.J. Campbell should also be able to solidify a backup spot on the interior of the Dolphins' offensive line, as players like Kion Smith, Josh Priebe, and Braeden Daniels have underwhelmed as of late.

Campbell has 43 career starts under his belt and was one of the more consistent guards in the conference for a good portion of those games. He was considered one of the "safest" mid-to-late round offensive guards in this year's class, and he should live up to that label for Miami.

Texas fans are extremely bummed to see these Longhorns leave the program, but we're all excited to see them live out their dreams at the NFL level.
