For a program like the Texas Longhorns, these are the type of moves they must make in the transfer portal to assert dominance over the rest of their new league's rivals. Not only does the addition of former Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman make Alex Golesh's team weaker, but it also hurts Alabama who was also in the mix for him, as well as creeping up on Georgia's turf as the SEC champs.
Coleman was tied to other teams like Alabama and Texas A&M before Texas swooped in and got him.

Coleman was the highest-ranked non-quarterback in the transfer portal over on 247Sports. The Phenix City, Alabama native is the type of player NFL teams will salivate over. Although he did his best to help the local team win out of high school, he has an NFL future to play for. More importantly, he has a national championship to contend for. Arch Manning and Steve Sarkisian have to be loving this.
From Alabama, to Georgia, to Texas A&M, everybody cannot believe Texas ended up with Coleman...

Although this was not a banner year for the SEC in the College Football Playoff, or in bowl season for that matter, Texas seems to be on a shortlist of teams who can realistically make it back into the 12-team field in 2026. Outside of Georgia, who else do you like to make the playoff more out of the SEC right now in 2026 than Texas? Exactly! The Longhorns are going all-in with Manning for this season.
If all goes according to plan, Texas can have its best season since 2005, or at the very least, 2009, 2023, or 2024, in some instances. While getting a marquee quarterback in the portal is the type of move that everyone cannot stop clamoring about, anytime a team can land a player with tremendous top-32 pick NFL pedigree at any position, you never take that lightly. What a huge get for Texas here!
Overall, there are no excuses for Texas not to make the playoff next year. To say the Longhorns have to win the whole thing next year is too much to put onto any program. Right now, the Longhorns have another season of Manning and Sarkisian working together. They supposedly upgraded the defense with Will Muschamp coming over. With Coleman is on his way to Austin, this team must win 10 games.
For now, let's sit back and enjoy Texas getting a real momentum shifter of a prospect in the portal.
