Texas opens as three-score favorite over Florida
Coming out of the bye week, No. 5 Texas football (7-1, 3-1 SEC) and head coach Steve Sarkisian should be rested up and ready to go against the Florida Gators (4-4, 2-3 SEC) and head coach Billy Napier in Week 11.
This weekend, the Longhorns saw the Gators suffer a comeback 30-24 loss against the rival Georgia Bulldogs in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party on Nov. 2.
Texas was a sizable favorite by three possessions in the opening odds over Florida for this Nov. 9 matchup when the initial betting spreads were released last week. But the opening line for this week has moved since Florida freshman quarterback DJ Lagway suffered an unfortunate lower-body injury late in the first half against Georgia yesterday afternoon.
Napier said during the halftime interview that Lagway suffered a "significant injury". Lagway had suffered a hamstring injury in the first half against Georgia.
Florida is already down senior quarterback Graham Mertz for the season due to an ACL tear he suffered in Week 6 against Tennessee.
The Gators have turned to redshirt freshman Aidan Warner at the quarterback position, with Lagway and Mertz both out due to lower-body injuries for Florida.
Here’s a look at the opening betting odds for the Week 11 matchup between No. 5 Texas and Florida at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX, on Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. CT.
