Texas opens as two-touchdown favorite vs. Arizona State

Texas has very favorable odds of beating Arizona State and a positive outlook from Vegas moving forward for the College Football Playoff this postseason.

After advancing past the first round of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff with a double-digit win over the 12-seed Clemson Tigers, the five-seed Texas football (12-2, 7-1 SEC) are set to face the four-seed Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl in the quarterfinals.

Texas will be playing in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the second time in the last month. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns played in Atlanta in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 7 against the Georgia Bulldogs, resulting in an overtime loss for Texas.

This will be the second-ever meeting on the gridiron between Texas and Arizona State for the second-round Peach Bowl in the Playoff on New Year's Day.

Arizona State (11-2, 7-2 Big 12) got a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff after beating the Iowa State Cyclones to win the Big 12 Championship. The Sun Devils are riding a hot streak entering the postseason, winning their last six games.

The moneyline favors Texas (-630) over Arizona State (+450).

The Longhorns also have the best overall odds of winning the College Football Playoff National Championship this postseason.

Texas is 8-6-0 against the spread this season (per TeamRankings). The Longhorns covered the 13.5-point pregame spread in the first round of the College Football Playoff victory over Clemson this weekend.

Arizona State is 11-2-0 against the spread this season. The Sun Devils are 4-2-0 as underdogs against the spread in the 2024 campaign.
