Rori Harmon has played in four Elite Eights, and this year, the Texas point guard finally reached the Final Four with her team. However, without that national title, it seems like Harmon's job isn't finished quite yet.
Harmon, a fourth-year point guard, has started in nearly every game she has played in for the Longhorns, and now, the Longhorns' leader has officially announced her return for the 2025-26 season.

What does Rori Harmon bring to the Texas women's basketball team?
Harmon is a defensive menace, something that head coach Vic Schaefer truly loves about his veteran point guard. Her 2.2 steals per game led the Longhorns throughout the last season, as did her 5.9 assists on the other end of the court
Throughout the 2024-25 season, Harmon averaged 9.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Her veteran status brought a sense of leadership and poise to the Texas lineup, especially as the Horns traversed their first season in the SEC.
How is Rori Harmon returning for a fifth season?
During Harmon's junior season (2023-24), the point guard suffered a devastating, season-ending ACL tear. After playing just 12 games, Harmon was sidelined for the remainder of the season and throughout Texas's postseason run to the Elite Eight.
Due to missing so much time during her junior year, Harmon was able to utilize her redshirt season, adding another year of eligibility back onto her resume.
In her video message to Longhorn fans, Harmon kept it simple by asking, "Why wouldn't I want to run it back?"

Throughout her first four seasons with the Longhorns, Harmon averaged 10.9 points, 6.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game. So far, she has played in 166 games for Texas, starting in 114 of them.
Schaefer has always spoken highly of Harmon, especially as the star point guard returned from her season-ending injury. The Texas head coach has even gone as far as to dare people to find anyone in the nation who is a better defender while also running her offense.
