To go along with Texas basketball's first-round win in the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns got some good news in the football sector as well when it comes to one of their top prospects for 2027.

4-star OT Brian Swanson officially narrowed down his list of schools to eight, with Texas making the cut.

The 6'5.5", 315-pound offensive tackle from Dallas' South Oak Cliff HS has been rising up the recruiting ranks over the past six months or so. As of right now, it looks like Swanson is considering Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Tennessee, SMU, and Arizona State.

Though he's still technically considering all of these schools, rumors are going around that he's leaning towards either Oklahoma or Texas right now.

Steve Sarkisian and Co. have done an excellent job this year in both the transfer portal and high school recruiting when it comes to acquiring offensive linemen, and adding Swanson would be a huge addition to the 2027 class.

The in-state offensive tackle is an incredibly good run-blocker, often times completely overwhelming defenders at the point of attack. His ability to constantly displace defensive linemen with consistent pad level and leg drive has been his most sought-after trait as a recruit. Though he has enough athleticism and footspeed to stick at offensive tackle at the collegiate level, he'll most likely get some reps at guard as well. He could actually be seen as somewhat of a "tweener" when it comes to his body type and overall skillset. He has the playstyle of a dominant offensive guard, but the size and length to develop into a legitimate offensive tackle.

Regardless, he'll continue to be one of the team's top offensive line targets heading into the 2026 season, and Kyle Flood will continue to stay close with Swanson up until National Signing Day.
