This time last year, the hype and noise around the Texas Longhorns' upcoming season was deafening, and then it was nearly silenced after the Horns lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes to kick off their 2025 campaign.

Now, with a rematch against the Buckeyes on the horizon (more than five months away), the Horns had some lofty expectations placed on their shoulders once again.

FanDuel Sportsbook just released a new round of odds for the upcoming college football season, and the Longhorns are narrow favorites over Ohio State, sparking a new sense of excitement around the rebuilt Texas team.

Opening odds for Texas football vs. Ohio State

  • Spread: -2.5 Texas
  • Money line: -130 Texas, +108 Ohio State
  • Over-Under: +/-47.5 points

Odds are from FanDuel Sportsbook and are liable to change at any time.

The Horns are favored by 2.5 points over the Buckeyes, with the over-under on the point total set at just 47.5 points.

Of course, last year, Texas was also favored to beat Ohio State at its home stadium, but that was an entirely different Longhorn team than it is today.

Arch Manning was playing in the first road starting appearance of his career, the Texas wideout room didn't tout a veteran Ryan Wingo or transfer Cam Coleman, the offensive line was as inexperienced as possible, and running backs Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers hadn't joined the squad yet.

Now, Manning has an entire season as the Texas QB1 under his belt, head coach Steve Sarkisian fortified and built up the offense, and the defense is set to be as dominant as any other team in the country.

Not to mention, the Longhorns and the Buckeyes are playing at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium this time around.

Texas and Ohio State are scheduled to kick off in Week 2 of the college football season, on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the specific game time yet to be announced.
