You are not seeing double. A second three-star linebacker has flipped his commitment to the Texas Longhorns, just days after fellow LB Raymond "Bounce" Hudson flipped from Clemson to the Horns.

Now, three-star Jason Crenshaw has committed to Texas, after initially committing to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, as a top-75 linebacker and top-40 prospect out of Alabama in the class of 2027.

Crenshaw became the 23rd recruit to commit to Texas out of the class of 2027, adding to the momentum that head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have built (or rebuilt) on the recruiting trail since defeating the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday.

Of course, it certainly did not hurt that Crenshaw was in attendance as the Horns beat the Rebs, getting to see his now-future team in action.

Additionally, Crenshaw has received Texas's full effort, with defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen playing heavy roles in the push to bring the three-star LB to the 40 Acres.

The Alabama native chose the Horns over a slew of teams trying to flip his commitment in their direction, including the North Carolina Tar Heels, who are led by legendary head coach Bill Belichick.

Jason Crenshaw's commitment has Horns' class of 2027 trending up

With his commitment to Texas, the Longhorns' class of 2027 did not immediately climb the national rankings, sitting at No. 9 overall and fourth in the SEC. However, alongside Hudson's commitment, the group is undeniably trending back up after taking a hit from five-star Easton Royal's de-commitment.

And the best news for Texas fans is that Sarkisian and his staff are nowhere near finished with their work in the class of 2027.

The Horns are also targeting three-star wideout Jacob Thomas, a possible replacement for Royal in the class's receiving corps. In other words, do not be surprised if the class does see an actual bump in its ranking, both on the national stage and within the conference.

Even without Royal's commitment, the class still features two five-star prospects: interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara and running back Landen Williams-Callis, as well as 11 four-star recruits.

While three-star prospects like Crenshaw and Hudson may not break the NIL bank or make national headlines, they are the exact pieces that Sarkisian, Muschamp, and the rest of the Longhorns need to keep adding to the class to ensure depth for years to come.

The early signing period for the class of 2027 goes from Dec. 2 through 4, and then National Signing Day is scheduled for Feb. 3, but these days, any prized prospect can commit and sign with a team virtually until the day they set foot on campus.

(And even after then, they could always hit the transfer portal.)
