Texas basketball has hosted one of the top-rated prospects in-state for the 2026 class, Frisco (TX) Link Academy four-star guard Trent Perry, for an unofficial visit.

Top-100 2026 G offer Trent Perry likes what he's seeing from Texas basketball's player development and recruiting from Link Academy

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex transferred to play his junior season at Link Academy in Branson, MO.

Perry has been interested in the Longhorns since Texas offered him last fall. Head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns staff have been in consistent communication with Perry since he started receiving interest from them going back over 15 months ago.

According to On3, Perry has taken unofficial visits to see the Texas A&M Aggies, SMU Mustangs, TCU Horned Frogs, and Texas. He said he's had the most consistent contact and has built good relationships with Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams, TCU head coach Jamie Dixon, and Terry and the Longhorns.

What has impressed Perry about the Longhorns recruiting him is the player development and pipeline Texas players has sent to the NBA.

"Really, I’m just seeing all the players that they have gotten from Texas. And they have done a really good job developing their players to get to the league. So for me, it’s really just the development part with Texas."

Terry and the Longhorns have established a recruiting pipeline in the past couple of cycles at Link Academy in Missouri. Texas landed a commitment from Perry's teammate and high-four-star power forward John Clark in the 2025 class.

The Longhorns also signed one of the top talented players in the nation in the 2024 class, freshman guard Tre Johnson from Link Academy, last year.

Texas is among the schools, including the New Mexico State Aggies, Texas A&M, TCU, and SMU, that Perry is looking to take official visits to next offseason.
