The official seeding for the 2026 Men's SEC Basketball Tournament officially dropped recently, and despite coming off a frustrating loss to Oklahoma in their final regular season game, Texas has a lot to look forward to.
Sean Miller and the Longhorns may have received the perfect path in terms of potential opponents throughout the bracket.
They're scheduled to play Ole Miss tomorrow at 6 pm CST/7 pm EST, and then Georgia in the next round if they can get past the Rebels in game one (which shouldn't be hard).

Ole Miss has been one of the worst teams in the SEC this season at 12-19, and they've been pretty bad in every major category except for free throw shooting, in which they're ranked 74th in college basketball.
The Longhorns really shouldn't have a problem against the Rebels from both a talent and schematic standpoint, seeing as how well Texas has been playing on offense under Sean Miller this year. As long as Matas Vokietaitis and Co. don't foul Ole Miss every other possession, the Longhorns should be able to win big in game one tomorrow night.
Georgia should give them more competition, but they're a very similar team in that they haven't been the best on defense in 2026. They also specialize on offense, averaging 90.4 PPG, which is good for 3rd in all of college basketball.
This may sound daunting, but Texas matches up extremely well, personnel-wise, with the Bulldogs. Vokietaitis, Nic Codie, and a hopefully healthy Lassina Traore definitely won't be bullied around in the frontcourt, which is where Georgia has been feasting as of late.
The Longhorns could come out hot tomorrow, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them go 2-0 heading into Friday's matchup against Alabama, who are locked into the quarterfinal round.
Texas is playing for their NCAA Tournament hopes on the line, and they were blessed with a pretty decent path in this year's conference tournament.
