One of the biggest topics of discussion on the first day of the Early Signing Period has been the fact that 5-star WR Chris Henry Jr. hasn't signed with the Ohio State Buckeyes yet like he was supposed to.
Though it hasn't been confirmed as the reasons why, two main factors have most likely caused Henry Jr. to have second thoughts about officially signing with the Buckeyes.
The biggest reason why he's hesitating right now is probably because the person that was his main point of contact while Ohio State was building a relationship with him, Brian Hartline, left today to take the head coaching position at USF. This took the college football world by surprise as it was never even made public that he was interested in the USF job.
On3’s @PeteNakos has confirmed that Texas has made a big NIL offer to Henry.

Henry's teammate Kayden Dixon-Wyatt was committed to Ohio State before flipping to USC, today.

The other main factor is most likely the simple fact that one of his best friends, Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, decommitted from Ohio State and flipped to USC today.
While all of this was happening, it sounds like Texas made Henry Jr. an enormous NIL offer to try and sway him to Austin. Though it's been over a year since the Longhorns offered Henry Jr. (February 2024), and he's never been to campus, Steve Sarkisian and Co. feel comfortable enough with his overall skillset to go all-in for him.
The 6'5", 205-pound receiver has the ability to step into the starting role at "X" for any program in the country, and if the Longhorns can find a way to get him to commit, it's game over for SEC defenses going forward.
If we're being 100% realistic, Texas is probably a top 3-4 school for him right now. Ohio State, USC, Texas, and Oregon could likely be his top choices right now. It's also unclear whether or not he'll make the decision during the Early Signing Period, or wait until National Signing Day.
