The Longhorns received the best news of the offseason yesterday when Marcus Spears Jr. reclassified to the 2026 class and officially committed to Texas. Having an elite player like Spears Jr. joining the team for the upcoming season is astronomically exciting, and his decision will undoubtedly help sway the recruitments of a couple of Sean Miller targets in the 2027 class.
Two players in particular are now officially trending towards Texas according to Rivals.com, and yesterday's events have certainly solidified these predictions.
5-star C Darius Wabbington
The 6'10", 245-pound big man from Phoenix, AZ, has been one of the most dominating centers in the nation over the past two seasons. His ability to completely dominate inside the paint on offense has made him look like an NBA player at times compared to his competition.
He's been completely unstoppable at times when driving to the basket, showing absolutely no fear when he's in attack mode. Wabbington's also unusually good as a distributor from multiple areas of the court, to the point where his high school coaches actually allowed him to initiate the offense multiple times throughout the 2025/2026 season.

Despite being more of an old-school interior "bully" offensively, he's shown the ability to stretch the floor at times, hitting pull-up jumpers and occasional three-pointers when given the opportunity. This has led to some analyst believing that he could be even more effective and has some unrealized potential when it comes to playing as a flexible power forward-type player at the next level.
He's reportedly down to Arizona and Texas as his top two schools right now.
4-star SG Justin Wise
Wise, a 6'4", 175-pound combo guard from Bogart, GA, is an incredibly smooth scorer and does a lot of things well for North Oconee High School. He was recently in Austin for his official visit on June 22nd, and things apparently went pretty well.
He's a top-notch three-point shooter, and he has a beautiful jump shot. Wise is the player that his school wants to get the ball to when they need a big play or to initiate a comeback.

He's also a pretty good ball-handler, showing off the ability to wiggle around and sift through crowded areas of the floor without losing focus or having to pick up the ball.
Wise is a classic "Sean Miller" guard who can be a scoring funnel from multiple areas of the court. One of Texas' issues last season was its ability to be effective from mid-range, consistently needing to find open shots from deep or inside the paint in order to be productive on offense.
Justin Wise is definitely someone who could help in that department, and he's officially now a Texas lean according to Rivals.com, but Georgia and Clemson are still hot on his trail.
