The Texas Longhorns stormed into the NCAA Tournament with a 47-point, first-half performance against the Xavier Musketeers. A big part of that dominance was veteran guard Tramon Mark, who led the Horns with 11 points in the first 20 minutes.

Mark, who also contributed two assists and one rebound, spoke to the truTV sideline reporter after the half and had high praise for his teammates.

“We were just getting some good shots," Mark said. "We were able to get in transition and get some good shots.”

Alongside Mark in double-digit scoring in the first half for the Longhorns was freshman phenom Tre Johnson who contributed 10 points and four rebounds. Most notably, Chendal Weaver, who had been coming off the bench after missing a lot of time due to injury, added six points, three steals, two rebounds, and two assists in the first half.

Mark, who transitioned into the starting point guard role throughout the regular season and into the SEC Tournament, spoke well of his move to the PG position.

"I’ve been on the ball a lot more and been able to showcase what I’m able to do," Mark said. "Just showcase what I can do for my teammates.”

The Longhorns forced five turnovers and outrebounded the Musketeers as they dominated Xavier in the first half. When the two teams headed to their locker rooms at halftime, Txas held a 47-39 lead in the First Four matchup.

The winner of the No. 11-seed Texas-Xavier game would advance to the Round of 64 where they would face the No. 6-seed Illinois Fighting Illini.
