Texas versus Vanderbilt: A history of one of the new SEC matchups
By Sam Fariss
The No. 5 Texas Longhorns are coming off their first loss of the season as they head to Nashville to take on the white-hot Vanderbilt Commodores.
After the loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 8, Texas is looking to right the ship and get back to the winning ways that the team had grown so accustomed to this season. The 'Dores, who have earned a spot in the AP Top 25 for the first time in recent memory, have already taken down Alabama this season and are looking for yet another big-time victory.
The two teams have actually played a dozen times in the past, so this isn't exactly a new matchup despite the Longhorns being in their first SEC season. Learn a bit more about the long-lived history between Texas and Vanderbilt:

Sure, the two teams haven't shared a football field in nearly a century but a five game advantage? For Vanderbilt?!
Commodore quarterback Diego Pavia has captured the hearts and minds of the college football world this season and the Longhorns need to be ready to face the facts, this isn't the usually unremarkable Vanderbilt team that people have grown used to.
No. 5 Texas and No. 25 Vanderbilt are scheduled to kick off at 3:15 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
