The Texas volleyball team is one of the best perennial programs in the sport. However, this season, the Longhorns have struggled to find consistency and have slowly slipped down the national rankings.

Currently sitting at No. 14 in the country, the Horns finally pieced together two wins in a row once again, after losing two of their last three matches. Making the renewed winning streak even better was that it was built on straight-set sweeps of both the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Georgia Bulldogs.

In the win over Georgia, the more recent of the two victories, all of the usual suspects were playing at their very best, with outside hitter Torrey Stafford leading the team in kills (15), outside hitter Cari Spears leading the team in blocks (4), and setter Rella Binney leading the team in assists (20).

The chemistry and precision were in perfect harmony as the Longhorns toppled both the Bulldogs and the Gamecocks, and that will need to continue over the next five games before the SEC Tournament begins.

Currently, the Horns sit at 7-3 in conference play and 11-7 overall. It's still a far cry from the Horns' usual elite level of play, but head coach Jerritt Elliott currently has his team back on track, and it's just in time.

This weekend, the Horns are set to host the Texas A&M Aggies, who aren't only Texas's biggest in-state rival, but are also the defending National Champions after stunning the world last season.

The good news is that Texas plays extremely well at home, dropping just one match at Gregory Gym so far, but the Aggies aren't too bad on the road, holding a 3-3 record in away games.

After Texas A&M comes to town, the Horns will face both the Missouri Tigers and Vanderbilt Commodores on the road before returning to the 40 Acres to play the Ole Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers in their final two regular-season matches of the year.

Despite a mediocre overall record, the 7-3 conference record that Texas boasts actually lands the Longhorns at fourth in the SEC, only trailing the Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, and Kentucky Wildcats.

If you're curious, Florida and Kentucky beat Texas, but the Horns defeated the Vols in Knoxville for one of their greatest wins of the season.

The 2026 SEC Volleyball Tournament is set to take place at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, GA, with matches running from Friday, Nov. 20 through Tuesday, Nov. 24. Then, Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament will take place on Nov. 29.
