College Gameday will officially be back in Austin for Texas' matchup against Ohio State in week two, and Longhorns fans are incredibly thankful and excited to receive a primetime start time.
The official kickoff time is set for 6:30pm CT/7:30pm ET on Saturday, September 12th at DKR.
With a game of this magnitude, fans could've probably assumed that it would be given a primetime slot, but you never know with these networks. There were plenty of huge games in 2025 that should've been allotted a better start time, but I digress.
Texas fans hit the jackpot with the College Gameday announcement
As soon as the College Gameday graphics were published, Texas media and fans took to social media to express their relief and positive takeaways from the kickoff time news:
I've got a feeling Texas is going to be playing a lot of football games at night this year.

No game of the magnitude of Texas vs Ohio State should be played at noon https://t.co/Zy1SbEZfu8

Texas officially has the Buckeyes right where they want them, and this season they won't let Ohio State off the hook with stupid penalties and boneheaded mistakes.
The 2026 Fighting Steve Sarkisian's will be much more disciplined and experienced heading into the game, as the program made sure to address those issues this offseason, and will continue to do so until the regular season begins.
One of the ways the Longhorns chose to attack the penalty problem was by adding former Kentucky HC Mark Stoops to the staff. He's always been known as a "stickler" when it comes to penalties, and it showed on gamedays, as his teams were consistently towards the bottom of the list when it came to team penalties each season.
As everyone already knows, penalties were the only reason why teams like Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt were even in the game against Texas in 2025. The staff saw that and were hard-pressed to address it this offseason in a big way, and Coach Stoops should undoubtedly help in that area.
Needless to say, the Ohio State loss put a pretty big damper on the Longhorns' hopes and dreams to get to the national championship game last season, and the program has taken all the necessary steps to not let that happen again in 2026.
It's now up to the players themselves to get the job done on the field on September 12th, and Texas fans have all the confidence in the world that they'll be successful. Horns up!
