We're only two days away from one of college football's biggest rivalry games, and both teams are anxiously awaiting status updates for multiple key players on both offense and defense. On the Longhorns' side, a starting defensive back was just given a positive report, while the Sooners got some bad news regarding one of their offensive playmakers.
Oklahoma injury updates
- Starting WR Keontez Lewis is officially listed as "quetionable", but he's trending towards sitting this one out following a scary head injury that he suffered last week for the Sooners. Lewis ran into a brick wall head-first, which is actually causing Oklahoma to make stadium changes going forward.
"I was very concerned… it was kind of like being in a car wreck, I would guess."Brent Venables on Keontez Lewis' injury
- QB John Mateer is apparently trending towards playing on Saturday, despite recently undergoing surgery on his throwing hand.
- One of the Sooners' top depth-level offensive tackles, Logan Howland, is officially doubtful for the Red River Rivalry.
Texas injury updates
- Starting CB Malik Muhammad is expected to play on Saturday, giving the Longhorns' secondary a much-needed boost after a rough outing against the Florida Gators last week.
- RB C.J. Baxter is continuing to rehab his hamstring, but it appears that he'll be OUT for the Red River Rivalry game as well.
- It was also confirmed that WR Parker Livingstone is on track to play this weekend for Steve Sarkisian and Co.
These are just the main updates for both teams from the conference provided activity or status reports for week 7. Make sure to follow along as we get more updates on other players leading up to the big game at the Cotton Bowl.
