Despite the Longhorns' week 1 loss to Ohio State, Texas has opened up as heavy favorites against the San Jose State Spartans heading into week 2 at home.
The official opening line is Texas -36.5 (-110) on Fanduel, though it could shift down by a few points to around -33 if the betting public or "sharps" decide that a spread of 5+ touchdowns is too large for the Arch Manning-led Longhorns after their rough loss last weekend.
The same goes for the opposite way of thinking. If the public believes that week 2 is going to be a huge redemption game for Steve Sarkisian and Co. against an opponent that struggled on offense as well, this line could get even bigger, to around -38 or so.

Despite the game being against a more "inferior" opponent on paper, these are the types of games that usually move quite a bit due to the varying opinions of both the public bettors and sharps.
All I know is that a few things must improve for Texas in week two, namely Arch Manning's overall accuracy at the intermediate level of the field. Yes, Ohio State's defense virtually shut down a good portion of the field, but things could've been much different if Manning had been able to connect with his receivers on a couple of important throws in week one.
