Texas entered this year's transfer portal window with a plan, and that plan obviously included overhauling the kicker, punter, and long snapper positions. They were able to sign K Gianni Spetic from Memphis, P Mac Chiumento from Florida State, and LS Trey DuBuc from New Mexico yesterday.

Spetic converted 15/20 field goals this year for the Tigers while also going 49/49 on extra points. He has a great leg and should be an excellent replacement for Mason Shipley in 2026. Spetic also went 4/5 on field goal attempts over 50 yards in 2025, which is incredible for a collegiate kicker.

He was also the kickoff specialist for Memphis in 2025, booting 78 kickoffs for 4,946 yards. He has one season of eligibility left.

Chiumento didn't punt often in 2025, totaling 27 punts for 1,188 yards, but he was able to down 13 of those inside the 20 for Florida State. It was a historically low amount of punts for the Seminoles this year and he also has one season of eligibility left, like Spetic.

DuBuc was one of the best long snappers at the G5 level this season, and he'll replace four-year starter Lance St. Louis in 2026. St. Louis was a core member of the team over the past four seasons, and his consistent ability to get balls back to punters and holders smoothly made Texas' special teams units incredibly reliable. Hopefully, Dubuc will be able to replicate his production over the next two seasons in Austin.

Three out of the Longhorns' first four transfer portal commits were special teamers, so it goes without saying that ST Coordinator Jeff Banks was determined to solidify his units early on in the process.
