Texas WBB star Rori Harmon finally gets her flowers in the 2026 WNBA Draft

Texas women's basketball lost a great player and leader in Rori Harmon. However, her basketball career is not ending anytime soon, as she was drafted by the Washington Mystics tonight.

Rori Harmon gave it her all for five years to Texas women's basketball. Unfortunately, the Longhorns couldn't win her a national title or two after coming up short in the Final Four two straight seasons. It's even more unfortunate that the college basketball world couldn't even nominate her for an award based on the season she just had.

However, she got some respect from the Washington Mystics tonight when Harmon was drafted by them in the third round of the WNBA Draft on Monday night.

I understand that she isn't as tall as most of the players in the league, but she makes up for it with her effort and attention to detail on the court. If anyone from the Texas Longhorns was going to get drafted in the WNBA Draft this year, it was going to be Rori. She is going to be an amazing teammate and even a better person in the Washington area.

I love how hyped up the Washington fans are to have her. I've seen comments ranging from her being the steal of the WNBA Draft to having a floor general running the floor with Lauren Betts. It is kind of ironic that Betts will be her teammate after being eliminated by UCLA earlier this month. While it's not a lock that Harmon will make the roster out of training camp, Harmon is going to fight for her spot on the roster. That's a definite given after seeing how much time she hangs out in the gym.

As we wrap up this article, Harmon will definitely be missed on the Longhorns next season. There are players that you can't replace, and Harmon is one of them because of her leadership. The Mystics don't know how lucky a team they are to have drafted Harmon and I expect to see reports online that Harmon is standing out during their training camp because Harmon is a hard worker.

Longhorn Nation wishes Harmon all the best with her professional basketball career, and hopefully she won't be a stranger to Austin in the future.
