The Texas Longhorns are not just the No. 1 team in the nation but also the frontrunners to land the No. 1 women's basketball recruit in the class of 2025. Aaliyah Chavez, out of Lubbock, has become a nationally sought-after star and recently announced that she was between the Horns and the Oklahoma Sooners for her future program.

Just a few moments later, On3's Texas insider, Justin Wells, logged a prediction that Chavez would stay at home in Texas and join the Longhorns.

Recently, Chavez visited the Horns when they defeated the Florida Gators and captured the SEC title to cap off their first-ever regular season in the conference. However, Chavez is reportedly seeking a $1.5 million NIL deal, which is something the Longhorns aren't shying away from.

Chavez has offers from around the country, including some of the top programs in the nation, such as the South Carolina Gamecocks and the LSU Tigers. Yet, the star point guard is reportedly more and more in favor of joining head coach Vic Schaefer and the Longhorns in the fall.

At the end of February, 247Sports reported that Chavez had set her decision date for March 25, less than three weeks after it was announced that Texas and Oklahoma were frontrunners for her future.

Over the last two years, Chavez has been selected to participate in elite-level tournaments and events such as Travis Scott's Nike World Basketball Festival, the Overtime Select league, and the USA Basketball 3-on-3 trials.
