Texas Women's Basketball kicked off its season against the Incarnate Word Cardinals at the Moody Center last night. The Longhorns started hot and showed off their offensive potential this season. The Longhorns would beat the Cardinals in a decisive landslide, 123-51. While this was the expected result, there was so much that went the Longhorns' way tonight.

Let's take a look at the four takeaways from tonight's decisive win over the Cardinals.

1. Quick start

I know Incarnate Word is not at the same level as South Carolina, but the Longhorns got off to a quick start against the Cardinals. The Longhorns will need to keep working on this before taking on some of the elite SEC teams this season. Texas had a massive run in the first quarter tonight and everyone was on their assignment defensively. The potential the Longhorns have on defense this season is through the roof.

Let's hope this continues into Friday's game against Richmond.

2. Aaliyah Crump had a good night

Freshman Aaliyah Crump showed up and scored 16 points against the Cardinals. She had 12 points during that first quarter run, and she's going to cause a lot of problems in the SEC over the next four seasons. As we mentioned during the offseason, she possesses many of the characteristics that Paige Bueckers had in college. The Longhorns might have their version of Bueckers developing before their eyes.

3. I'm not too worried about Booker

Madison Booker didn't get the ball that much tonight against the Cardinals, but we're not worried about it. The way she drew defenders to her opened up other players to make baskets. I like how Schaefer made it look like he was going to run the offense through her, and the Cardinals fell for it.

Schaefer got to show off all the weapons he has at his disposal for the season by doing this. Booker is going to be a threat and go off against teams on their schedule as the season moves along.

4. Offense moved smoothly

The Longhorns' offense was flowing smoothly tonight. They were making a lot of passes, and it would open up opportunities for different players to score baskets. This was one of the things that tripped up the Longhorns during their conference games last season.

I know it's only the first game, but the offensive movement looks so much better than it did last season. The Longhorns return to the Moody Center as they take on the Richmond Spiders on November 7th.
