Texas women's basketball continued its homestand this afternoon as they took on the Prairie View A&M Panthers at the Moody Center.

The Longhorns entered today's game coming off a huge win against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC/SEC Women's Challenge. It took a couple of minutes for the Longhorns' offense to get going, but once it did, it was game over for the Panthers. In the end, the Longhorns went on to win 101-42 over the Panthers.

While the Longhorns got a dominating win this afternoon, I'm not getting too excited about it. The outcome was pretty much how the game was going to go this afternoon. Nothing against the Panthers and their program, but their skill level can't compete that well against a team like the Longhorns, who are No.2 in the country right now.

Let's take a look at four takeaways from today's game against the Panthers:

1. Getting to the rim

The Longhorns took the ball to the rim quite a bit today instead of taking jump shots. It's how Texas got out to a quick lead over the Panthers this afternoon. I love the occasional three-point shot here and there, but I love attacking the rim and getting players into foul trouble.

Keep attacking the rim, and this team could be unstoppable.

2. Breya Cunningham and Teya Sidberry had great games today

Two of the transfers the Longhorns recruited over the summer had great games this afternoon, with Breya Cunningham and Teya Sidberry combining for 38 points against the Panthers. It would be nice to see them get more playing time once the Longhorns begin their conference schedule soon.

Both ladies could provide valuable minutes being in the starting lineup or coming off the bench. I'm sure they will continue doing what they did today on Wednesday night against the UTRGV Vaqueros.

3. Scoring second-chance points

Another thing I thought the Longhorns did well today was scoring on second-chance opportunities. A perfect example of that was when Kyla Oldacre grabbed an offensive rebound off Madison Booker's jumper and scored her first points of the game. This is a fundamental of basketball that will help the Longhorns compete in the SEC this season. If the Longhorns can keep punishing their opponents with second-chance opportunities, the sky is the limit for how they will do this year.

4. Letting the opponent run right by them

I know Texas still has a short bench. They are being cautious on defense, avoiding turnovers, but you can't allow your opponent to run right by you for an easy layup. They allowed some easy layups by the Panthers where they flew by two Longhorns and weren't contested at the basket.

You can't allow that to happen when you take on teams like LSU or South Carolina. The Longhorns will be back on Wednesday night against the UTRGV Vaqueros.
