The Texas Longhorns stormed into the SEC last season, and while they didn't walk away with the conference championship, the Horns made sure their names were known.
Now, as Texas prepares for its second season in the most dominant athletic conference in the nation, the Horns will also have to prepare for a busy and lengthy travel schedule.
How far will Texas travel during the 2025 season?
The Longhorns will travel a jaw-dropping 9,077.2 miles during the upcoming regular season, with the Horns' longest trip being their first game of the year. Texas will travel more than 2,100 miles when the team plays the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus to kick off their season.
The near-9,100-mile total for Texas's travel schedule this season will by far and away be the longest distance traveled by an SEC team, and that's before anyone plays a single postseason snap.
How far will each SEC team travel during the 2025 season?
- Texas Longhorns - 9,077.2 miles
- Oklahoma Sooners - 7,034.34
- Florida Gators - 6,170.6
- South Carolina Gamecocks - 5,927.56
- Texas A&M Aggies - 4,848.46
- Auburn Tigers - 4,531.78
- LSU Tigers - 4,209.62
- Arkansas Razorbacks - 3,962.45
- Mississippi State Bulldogs - 3,906.03
- Vanderbilt Commodores - 3,678.42
- Missouri Tigers - 3,086.54
- Alabama Crimson Tide - 3,066.48
- Tennessee Volunteers - 2,704.19
- Kentucky Wildcats - 2,541.02
- Ole Miss Rebels - 2,520.92
- Georgia Bulldogs - 1,886.49
Does it really come as a surprise that the Georgia Bulldogs have to travel less than 2,000 miles during the regular season while Texas has to travel over 9,000? Yes, the Horns are located the farthest to the west out of any team in the SEC, but Georgia is on the East Coast and will host nine home games (the Horns will play just six games at home).
Currently, despite their brutal travel conditions, the Longhorns are the favorites to win the SEC Championship (+270), edging out the defending conference champions, the Georgia Bulldogs (+400), and the Alabama Crimson Tide (+500).
Texas will play the OSU Buckeyes on Saturday, Aug. 30. Then, the Horns will play three consecutive home games, when they play San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston State at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
