The 2025 season was definitely "disappointing" by Texas football standards, but the Longhorns still accomplished something extraordinary.
Texas officially became one of only five teams in the history of college football to win at least 970 games at the FBS or top level of the sport. They're also only one of nine teams to have over 900 career wins as well.
To be in such elite company as a program is incredibly exciting and obviously something to be proud of. It's difficult enough to be consistent and have a winning culture right now, but to do it for such a long period of time is unbelievable.

With a career win percentage of over 70%, Texas continues to be one of the most winningest college football programs of all time despite the lack of publicity as of late.
The Longhorns have won 34 conference championships and have officially won four national championships, though five more have been unclaimed throughout the years for multiple different reasons. Having also been to 63 career bowl games with a record of 34-27-2 is nothing to scoff at from an organizational standpoint.
Heading into 2026, Texas has both the talent and coaching staff to have one of the most successful seasons in school history with Arch Manning leading the offense, and Colin Simmons on defense. All of the pieces are there now that Steve Sarkisian and Co. added players like Cam Coleman, Hollywood Smothers, and Rasheem Biles in the transfer portal.
They were also able the shore up the offensive line with Melvin Siani, Dylan Sikorski, and Jonte Newman, which was definitely the biggest problem area heading into the offseason.
The Longhorns are heading into the spring with a head full of steam, and the 2027 National Championship game on their minds.
