As the Texas Longhorns' football team enjoys their bye week (hopefully putting in quite a bit of work while they don't have a game), fans may be wondering what in the world to watch without their favorite squad playing ball on Saturday.

Luckily, the Horns always boast a plethora of talented teams, and quite a few of them will be in action this weekend.

So, while you won't be able to see Steve Sarkisian, Arch Manning, or Colin Simmons on the field on Saturday, you will be able to see other star Longhorns compete. In fact, between Texas volleyball, women's soccer, and cross country, there are so many games that you may want to grab a pencil or pen.

Head coach Jerritt Elliott and the volleyball team are set to play two home games this weekend, hosting the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide at Gregory Gym as Texas tries to keep its head above water in conference play.

Up first are the Bulldogs, who have stunned the country and started 11-1 overall this season. Meanwhile, the perennial Longhorns have started 5-5 and are going to have to fend off a white-hot Mississippi State team.

Then, two days later, the Crimson Tide comes to town. Alabama has also started the season well, going 8-3 through its first 11 games, but has been unable to defeat Texas since the Horns joined the SEC in 2024.

Volleyball isn't the only sport that will be on display on the 40 Acres this weekend, with a rejuvenated soccer team taking the field in the first Red River Rivalry game of the year, hosting the Oklahoma Sooners.

New head coach Margueritte Bates has led the Horns to a 6-2-3 overall record so far, building up a program that was seemingly on the brink of failure just a year ago, only winning four games in all of the 2025 season.

Along with volleyball and soccer, the Texas men's and women's cross country teams will be competing this weekend, with a trip to Fayetteville, AR, for the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3.

No, there won't be any burnt orange and white on the football field this weekend, but that doesn't mean you have to go without seeing your Texas Longhorns in action.
