Ohio State

Head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes notched a huge victory for the program and the coaching staff in the first round of the Playoff against the Tennessee Volunteers in Columbus.

Ohio State is right now listed as a slight favorite in the Playoff quarterfinals on New Year's Day against Oregon. But both Oregon and Ohio State are tricky matchups for any of the remaining teams in the Playoff field this postseason.

Texas and Ohio State are currently the odds on favorite teams to win the College Football Playoff National Championship Game this postseason (per FanDuel).

Like Oregon, Ohio State presents some difficult matchups on both sides of the ball for the Longhorns in this hypothetical semifinal matchup. Will Howard is an experienced starting quarterback who started multiple games in his career against the Longhorns when he was at Kansas State.

One of the trickiest parts about a hypothetical matchup for the Longhorns in the Playoff semis vs. Ohio State would be Texas's pass defense against the Buckeyes' stellar receiving corps. Ohio State and Texas probably have the most talent and speed at receiver among the eight teams left in the Playoff field.

Ohio State's defensive line could be the best, outside of Georgia's interior D-Line, left in the Playoff. The Buckeyes wouldn't let up anything easy for Texas's offense in the quick passing game and in the trenches on the ground.

Sarkisian vs. Day would be one of the most fun Playoff matchups between two great offensive play callers for this postseason.
