As the Texas Longhorns held off the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, star left tackle Trevor Goosby went down with an apparent knee injury.
On Sunday afternoon, ESPN's Pete Thamel confirmed that Goosby would miss the remainder of the season with an injury to his left knee.
Just like that, a shaky Texas offensive line that had already been struggling to protect quarterback Arch Manning would be without its undeniable leader.
Goosby is considered the top left tackle prospect in the country ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft after spending four years with the Horns. While he is still likely to head to the Draft, despite suffering the injury, Texas's beloved left tackle technically has another year of eligibility remaining after using his redshirt season as a freshman in 2023.
"Texas star left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury against Ole Miss on Saturday. Goosby is the country’s top NFL prospect at left tackle, as ESPN’s Field Yates ranked him the No. 8 pick in his most recent mock draft," Thamel reported on Sunday, Oct. 25, less than 24 hours after the Longhorns had completed their victory over the Rebels.

It's time for Andre Cojoe to step up in the biggest way possible
Goosby went down with nearly five minutes remaining in the first quarter against Ole Miss, and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian had backup right tackle Andre Cojoe take his place.
Other than giving up a strip sack on Manning, Cojoe played an incredible game in an impossible situation: trying to fill Goosby's shoes.
Cojoe helped the Texas run game finally find its footing, which led to the Horns amassing a whopping 207 yards on the ground, the most rushing yards they had earned against a Power Conference opponent all season.
It's impossible to deny that Cojoe stepped up to the plate when the Horns needed him most on Saturday, and with Goosby now out for the rest of the season, he needs to be ready to do that every Saturday for the next five weeks (at the very least).
Beyond Cojoe, the Horns are rather than on the offensive line, with both redshirt freshman left tackle Jordan Coleman and redshirt junior right guard Jaydon Chatman missing time with injury over the last few weeks.
Laurence Seymore III and Devin Coleman play backup roles at left guard. Newcomers Paris Patterson and Jonte Newman (two more redshirt freshmen) both add depth on the right side of the line.
In other words, it's pretty much Cojoe or bust for the left tackle role now, and if he isn't able to answer the call, we could see a lot more problems for Manning and the Texas offense in the coming weeks.
