Justus Terry and Kaliq Lockett were big-time recruits for Texas football in the 2025 recruiting class, and they've already begun to show why in practice.
Due to their performances this summer and throughout fall camp, Terry and Lockett were recently named to the preseason watch list for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award. It's a yearly honor given to the most impactful freshman player in college football.
Both of these players have the ability and potential to see a serious amount of playing time in 2025, especially Lockett. He was already rotating with Ryan Wingo at "X" in Texas' most recent scrimmage, which could mean that he's going to be a legitimate depth option on the outside heading into the regular season.

Terry has been working at both JACK and inside at defensive tackle for DC Pete Kwiatkowski, and has been drawing rave reviews from both Defensive Ends coach LaAllan Clark and Defensive Line coach Kenny Baker since arriving in Austin.
If Lockett or Terry were to win the award, they'd only be the second Longhorn in history to win it, with the first being Colin Simmons in 2024.
