In his recent presser, Vanderbilt football head coach Clark Lea addressed Texas' current quarterback situation and how he feels about both Arch Manning and Matthew Caldwell heading into week 10.

Seeing an opposing head coach being honest about the threat that both Manning and Caldwell have as throwers and runners is very intruiging. Everyone already knew how athletic Arch Manning was heading into the season, but it's Matthew Caldwell who's taken Longhorn Nation by surprise as of late.

Though he hasn't seen the field much for obvious reasons heading into week 10, he's been very efficient when he has. For the season, he's completed 72.7% of his passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. He's also rushed two times for 64 yards on the ground, breaking off a 50-yarder against Sam Houston.

He'll be starting his first game for Texas this weekend and he'll undoubtedly be bringing a similar overall skillset to Arch Manning for the Longhorns' offense, though his arm talent isn't on Manning's level.

Steve Sarkisian also recently detailed Caldwell's initial Texas visit and why he feels comfortable with the Troy transfer going forward:

"What I liked about him on his visit was just his demeanor, his approach to it. It didn't seem too big for him here. He didn't feel entitled by any means. He was a guy who just wanted an opportunity."

"He's a very even keel guy. I thought he had a great practice today. I think the players have a lot of confidence in him. I think it's his maturity, his approach"

It's going to be interesting to see how smooth the Longhorns' offense operates this weekend with Caldwell at the helm.
