The Lady Longhorns have been on an absolute tear this season, recently dominating the SEC Tournament bracket en route to their first SEC Championship win in program history. Shortly after the 2026 WCWS bracket was populated, Vegas updated its odds for who has the best chance to win it all this year. It's pretty safe to say that the sportsbooks are all pretty fond of what Texas has been doing lately.
The Longhorns currently hold the third-best odds to become national champions this season at +500, right behind Oklahoma at +200 and Texas Tech at +300.
Top 10 odds for the 2026 Women's College World Series
- Oklahoma +200
- Texas Tech +300
- Texas +500
- Alabama +500
- Nebraska +800
- Arkansas +1200
- Tennessee +1500
- Florida +1800
- UCLA +2200
- Florida State +2500
This is understandably quite a bit higher than their odds before winning the SEC Tournament, but to land inside the top three is incredibly exciting to see.
Teagan Kavan, Reese Atwood, Ashton Maloney, Leighann Goode, Viviana Martinez, and Katie Stewart have provided the team with an elite veteran core in 2026, and they've helped mentor and develop newcomers like Jaycie Nichols, Hannah Wells, and MaTaia Lawson.
Katie Stewart was recently named the SEC Player of the Year for 2026, and Texas had a total of seven players earn All-SEC honors this season.

This Texas softball team is no joke, and they're undoubtedly one of the most well-rounded squads in the league right now. They're near the top of the list in most major categories, especially when it comes to batting. These ladies seemingly hit a home run every other at-bat, and it comes from both the veterans and the newbies.
True freshman pitcher Hannah Wells, whom Teagan Kavan and Reese Atwood raved about before the season, hit a whopping 12 home runs in 2026, one short of Katie Stewart's freshman program record of 13 in 2024.
Very few teams in this year's tournament are on the same playing field (pun intended) when it comes to the Longhorns' overall talent, and there's a legitimate chance that Mike White's 2026 team can coast through the first couple of rounds and beat each team by 5-6+ runs without breaking much of a sweat.
The first round begins tomorrow (May 15th) as Texas takes on Wagner at 3:00pm CT/4:00pm ET in Austin. Though there has been some speculation that it might change, it's still set to be televised on ESPN+.
