Vic Schaefer has built the Texas women's basketball program back into a powerhouse, and while he hasn't quite reached the ultimate glory, he has the team in the best shape it has been in in decades.
With that dominance has come a swath of highly talented recruits, and Schaefer just added the latest prospect to his already extremely promising roster.
Jayda Clark signed with the Texas Longhorns, adding a wealth of experience to Schaefer's depth chart.

At 21 years old, Clark has already played in the NBL1, Australia's top semi-professional league, and has been touted as one of the most productive players from the past season, averaging 17.8 points per game.
Jayda Clark's experience is exactly what Texas was looking for
On a roster that was already flush with talent, Clark's experience was exactly what the Horns needed to find the same level of success that they have seen in recent years.
This offseason, Texas saw former starters Jordan Lee and Justice Carlton head to the transfer portal, alongside bench players Aaliyah Crump and Aaliyah Moore. Not to mention the fact that beloved point guard Rori Harmon headed to the WNBA.
However, all of that was far from the end of the world, mainly because Schaefer had landed such an incredible recruiting class.
The Longhorns' class of 2026 topped the national rankings and was comprised of five blue-chip prospects, filling in any holes that the roster had following departures.
- Addison Bjorn, four-star small forward
- Bri Crittendon, four-star power forward
- Isi Etute, four-star power forward
- Aaliah Spaight, four-star point guard
- Amalia Holguin, four-star shooting guard
However, even with four-star players galore, the roster lacked the necessary experience at a higher level. The addition of Clark perfectly solves that issue.
Additionally, of course, the Longhorns will have Madison Booker on the court, the star of the Texas women's basketball program over the last few years. Alongside her will be returning players Sarah Graves, Bryanna Preston, and Breya Cunningham.
Schaefer also added a few players through the transfer portal: former Oklahoma Sooners guard Zya Vann and former Marquette Golden Eagles forward Jada Bediako, piling on even more depth to his roster.
Simply put, with Schaefer steering the ship, the Horns were always going to be in good hands, but the addition of Clark to the roster was just what Texas needed.
And the Longhorns needed it sooner rather than later.
This season, Texas women's basketball will tip off its season with an exhibition matchup against none other than the UConn Huskies. Yes, the very team that has dominated women's college basketball for... well... forever.
The Horns and the Huskies are scheduled to play on Monday, Oct. 19, followed by Texas playing the defending National Champion UCLA Bruins in an exhibition game just six days later.
