The Longhorns were able to shut out the Arizona State Sun Devils in last night's heavyweight romp, and Texas fans everywhere were incredibly excited.

It's been a long, but incredibly successful year for the Lady Longhorns, and it's paid off with a return to the WCWS for the NINTH time. More impressive is the simple fact that this will be the third time in a row that they receive a WCWS birth.

Social media exploded as Texas punched its ticket to Oklahoma City

Understandably, as soon as the game ended, Longhorns fans everywhere were celebrating and expressing their satisfaction with the team's performance on social media:

This is such an incredible team filled with some of the best softball players in the country, and they definitely played like it last night.

Once again, Longhorns P Teagan Kavan played lights out, recording her seventh career shutout against Arizona State and improving her win record to 25-5 in 2026. She continues to be one of the top collegiate softball pitchers for the second consecutive year.

Katie Stewart also stood out for Texas in the game, being credited with 4 RBI's and multiple great plays on defense. The way she's developed into such a dominant player over the past two seasons is incredibly intriguing to see from a coaching standpoint as well. She took a huge step from years two to three, and the sky is truly the limit for Stewart, who'll undoubtedly play a huge role in this year's WCWS.

Another player who's been playing incredibly well lately for the Longhorns is junior IF Viviana Martinez. She had a beautiful hit down the right field line that resulted in a triple for Texas. Arizona State also chose to "walk" her later on in the game because they didn't want to give her a chance at bombing one when the Sun Devils were trying to make a comeback.

Though Texas would've undoubtedly won the game anyway, it didn't help that Arizona State struck two Texas batters with pitches in the game, awarding them free bases. It's little things like this that added to the frustration of losing the game for the Sun Devils, a team that's been surging over the past couple of months.

The Longhorns now look to keep this momentum going as their ultimate goal is to win back-to-back National Championships. It's incredibly rare for a team to play as well as Texas has in almost every category, and now it's time for them to prove it on the biggest stage.
