After Week 7 last weekend, many SEC football teams moved up the ladder as they look to solidify their resumes for the 12-team College Football Playoff and in the race for advantageous spots in the conference standings. Week 7 officially marked the conclusion of the first half of the 2024 college football regular season.

Texas football and Georgia's marquee matchup hold the SEC football spotlight in Week 8

Last weekend wasn't as chaotic regarding the outcomes for teams in the top 25 than it was in Week 6. That said, multiple highly-ranked SEC teams in the top 20 in both major polls were put on upset alert over the weekend.

One top 15 SEC team also fell to an underdog foe in conference play on Saturday, with the Ole Miss Rebels falling short of the LSU Tigers in overtime in Baton Rouge.

Above all else, what this regular season in the SEC has proven is that no week in this conference is easy. Regardless if its a top 10 team at the top of the SEC standings facing a lower tier team, there is no easy week in this conference.

Here are the post-Week 7 updated SEC power rankings, with much more stability across all levels of the conference tiers compared to the previous week of major upsets.

True freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren had easily the best statistical start of his young career for the Bulldogs, throwing for over 300 yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception.

First-year head coach Jeff Lebby and Mississippi State can be a tough challenge at home this weekend in Starkville against the No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies.
