The top three teams remain the same in the post-Week 7 SEC power rankings, including No. 1 Texas at the top of the list after a resounding Red River win over OU.

. . 537. . 7. Vanderbilt. 4-2 (2-1 SEC). . . Week 7 Result: 20-13 win @ Kentucky

The magical run for standout dual-threat quarterback Diego Pavia and Vandy continues in SEC play after an impressive one-touchdown win on the road last weekend over Kentucky, 20-13. Vandy has now won two in a row on the road at Kroger Field in Lexington since 2022.

The Commodores will have a shot to pick up its fifth win of the regular season in Week 8 at home against the Ball State Cardinals.

. 5-1 (2-1 SEC). Tennessee. Week 7 Result: 23-17 OT win vs. Florida. . 534. . 6. .

Last week: 6 (--)

Head coach Josh Heupel and the Vols have not looked all that great in the past two games. In the last two games, Tennessee has fallen to Arkansas on the road and needed overtime to defeat the rival Gators at home at Neyland Stadium last weekend.

Tennessee will face another top-15-ranked foe in the SEC that has struggled to perform up to expectations in conference play in the last few games when the Vols host Alabama in the Third Saturday in October rivalry game this upcoming weekend.

. . . Alabama. 5-1 (2-1 SEC). . 523. . Week 7 Result: 27-25 win vs. South Carolina. 5

Last week: 4 (-1)

Alabama barely survived a second straight upset against an unranked foe last weekend when South Carolina drove the Tide and quarterback Jalen Milroe to the brink of defeat in Tuscaloosa. Since the second half of the close win over Georgia in Week 5, Alabama's offense (especially through the air) has not looked sharp.

Against a stout Tennessee defensive front, Alabama will need to up its game with the passing offense in a rivalry game in Knoxville in Week 8.

. . . 529. Week 7 Result: 29-26 OT win vs. Ole Miss. 4. LSU. . . 5-1 (2-0 SEC)

Last week: 5 (+1)

It feels like I've written this about LSU each week in the power rankings this season. Head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers have managed to find a way to make every game interesting, no matter the strength of the opponent or the location of the contest.

Behind an insane performance from sophomore outside backer Whit Weeks for the Tiger defense, LSU toppled Ole Miss with a thrilling 29-26 victory in overtime at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.

Can LSU continue to build momentum and bolster its Playoff resume in SEC play, with a road trip looming to face the rival Razorbacks in Week 8?
