Week 9 SEC conference power rankings

SEC football provided another weekend of big-time results and exciting finishes around the conference. With nearly all SEC teams in action in Week 8 of the regular season, this week's power rankings had big chances to shift across all tiers in the conference for the different teams.

There were also a handful of surprises around the SEC last weekend for Week 8. No. 1 Texas football fell to the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs in a humbling double-digit loss for head coach Steve Sarkisian's squad in primetime at home in Austin at DKR.

We also saw near upsets of the Mizzou Tigers against the Auburn Tigers at home in Columbia, and the Vanderbilt Commodores took until later in the second half to pull away for a closer-than-expected 10-point victory over a G5 opponent in the Ball State Cardinals at home.

All you need to know about the Oklahoma Sooners' offense after Week 8 is the fact that the school fired first-year offensive coordinator Seth Littrell after putting up just nine points against the South Carolina Gamecocks last weekend (per SoonerScoop).

Oklahoma's offense wasted another good performance from the defense last weekend, holding South Carolina to just 3.5 yards per play and under 300 total yards of offense on Saturday.
