Mizzou finds itself back in the top half of the SEC power rankings this week after a narrow win over Auburn in Columbia on Saturday. The Tigers needed a pretty miraculous late second-half return from senior quarterback Brady Cook, who somehow made it back to the field after suffering an ankle injury and having to report to the hospital during the game.

There is another tough contest on tap this weekend for Mizzou on the road in Tuscaloosa against Alabama.

The state of Tennessee has not been friendly to the Tide this season. Alabama and first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer have now suffered upset road defeats in SEC play at the hands of Tennessee and Vanderbilt since early-October.

The Tide were disjointed and undisciplined on both sides of the ball against rival Tennessee on Saturday afternoon, registering over 100 penalty yards for the second time this season.

Alabama returns home for a must-win contest this upcoming weekend against a top-25-ranked Mizzou team.

. 5. . Week 8 Result: 24-17 win vs. Alabama. . . . 534. Tenn. 6-1 (3-1 SEC)

Last week: 6 (+1)

While Tennessee's offense has been underwhelming at times this season, the Vols and head coach Josh Heupel managed to hold off the Tide for a key victory at home in the Third Saturday In Saturday last weekend. Tennessee is firmly back in the Playoff picture after beating a top-10-ranked Alabama team.

. Week 8 Result: 34-10 win vs. Arkansas. . 529. LSU. 4. . . 6-1 (3-0 SEC).

It is a very close race between LSU and Texas A&M to crack the top three in this week's power rankings in the SEC. That close race will officially get decided this upcoming weekend when LSU travels to College Station to face Texas A&M.

A win over the Aggies puts LSU in a spot as the potential SEC title frontrunner and a solidified Playoff contender entering the month of November.
