Texas basketball (15-9, 4-7 SEC) is officially in the back half of the conference schedule after two straight losses in SEC play in the past week against Arkansas and Vanderbilt on the road. In the past three or four weeks of SEC play, Texas and head coach Rodney Terry have picked up three Quad 1 and Quad 2 wins.

Two of Texas's Quad 1 wins in the past three weeks have come against top-25 foes, against the No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies and No. 22 Mizzou Tigers.
Pretty much every opportunity for a win in SEC play down the stretch this regular season will be a Quad 1 victory. Texas needs to get as many wins as possible to bolster its NCAA Tournament resume for this postseason on Selection Sunday next month.
Texas returns to the Moody Center for its next two SEC games against top-15 foes, the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats next week. If the Longhorns can pick up one win during those two contests against top-15 teams in Alabama and/or Kentucky, Texas will be in a good spot to solidify its spot as a potential single-digit seed in the 64-team field for the NCAA Tournament this postseason.
After slipping up with the eight-point loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville on the road on Saturday this weekend, the Longhorns' record has dipped in conference play. On3 projects the Longhorns to get the nine-seed for the Round of 64 in the East Region in the NCAA Tournament against the eight-seed Baylor Bears in their latest Bracketology update this Sunday.
Four weeks remain before the SEC Tournament, and Selection Sunday determines the 68-team field for the March Madness bracket this postseason. Texas is back at the Moody Center for a critical two-game stretch in Austin against Alabama (Feb. 11) and Kentucky (Feb. 15) over the next six days in SEC play.
